A Little New Hope
Trust me you should read this blog @ A Little New Hope Blog

A new chapter in my life.. after the storm of pain, sadness, suffering, hurts and torturing... It is the source of my strength as well as an outlet for my sadness. Strength as in welcoming my Little New Hope into planet Earth on EDD 13th Jan 2008 and sadness as in betrayal from my beloved husband whom I call "Bao Bei". May time heal all wounds and faith will bring happiness to my little new hope, me, my families and beloved friends.

When the trust between two parties is broken, it’s broken forever…

“What Is Most Valuable Is Not What You Have In Your Life, But Who You Have In Your Life”
When relationships go wrong, the list of things given and done for the person usually crops up. We say, “I have given you this and that… I have done these things for you.” It seems that love is simply proven by the bestowal of gifts and favors.

But while presents are important, love demands what is basic: ‘presence of the beloved’.
Love is fundamentally a commitment to a person. We may be committed to our business, job, hobby, sports and clubs. But strictly speaking, they cannot love us back. Only a person can love us in return, and for that matter, the highest commitment as human beings, is spending time with those people we love.

And since people need affection and nourishment, material things can only help up to a certain degree in fostering love. But it can never replace the greatest gift of presence because everyone needs someone - be it friends, parents, siblings or simply that ’special’ one.

Being there for someone need not necessary mean having to say alot. Words are sometimes redundant. Remember that ‘presence’ (to be there for someone) is more than enough.

It's supposed to look like that when it rains. It is said that the rain of the tree washes away sins, cures diseases and even makes us younger. The ''best time to visit is between 17:00 and 23:00, you will have a 70% chance that it will rain twice an hour. It rains randomly, not hourly.

Is Society Obsessed with Technology and its Power over our Lives?
Whether advancing technology has the potential to be "liberating" or "destructive" force in society?

Technology refer as "totality of the means employed to provide objects necessary for human sustenance and comfort."

Consider:
The application of surveillance technology used, unwittingly participants called this "electronic police lineup". Cameras located at every entrance "taped" every face and matching up with face recognition software. Are we criminals?

Camera functions now build into ubiquitous mobile phone. Accusation such as looking under women's skirt by taking pictures/videos. Is this technology invade privacy and our human rights?

Rental cars installed with global positioning system on vehicles and tracking people without their knowledge. You are being watch by someone for 24 hrs.

Human cloning. Is scientist driven by technological capacities for achieving this breakthrough instead of asking important questions concerning ethics and side effects.

Undesirable side effects of technology:
Environmental pollution. Topic of concern today is global warming due to technology.
Depletion of natural resources: Technology threatens the supply of natural resources. Fuel shortages and power shortages.
Technological Employment: Technology jobs are being moved offshore.
Creation of unsatisfying jobs: Failure to provide job accomplishment.

Our world has changed from a "technologically comfortable place" to "technologically intoxicated zone."

Six symptoms of society's intoxication with technology
- We favour quick fix. Technology promises to detoxify us, to simplify our lives, relieve our stress and calm our nerves, Just like Band-Aid.
- We fear and worship technology. We accept technology, fearing that we will fall behind our friend, colleagues or competitors.
- We blur the distinction between what is real and what is fake.
- We accept violence as normal. Technology make it possible to package violence in form of merchandise.
- We love technology as a toy. Electronic distractions busy us as we cannot find anything worthwhile to do. We use it as leisure to fill our free time. Problem is that real leisure is not based on the desire to consume.
- We live our lives distanced and distracted. Internet, mobile phones and wireless technologies connect us to the world but it distance us and distract us.

Do you mind that much? I Love Gadgets and Technology.

G17 CT Final Exhibition - Conformity
A Painted Canvas

Conformity is the process that causes a change in the belief or behaviour of an individual, either due to real or imagined pressure. Choices are made for, and not by, the individual, and even if he disagrees with these choices, he is often unable to overcome the pressure to conform to societal norms.

It is pervasive in every aspect of life. On a daily basis, conformity can be seen via peer pressure, where the individual conforms and abides by the decisions made by those around him. In such a situation, it is possible that the individual has himself chosen to adopt the behaviour and beliefs of a group. However, there exists a greater and subtler form of conformity that affects the individual on a subconscious level, over which he has no control, and often little, if any, awareness.

This intangible conformity exists in the form of societal norms. Societal norms do not exist because of any particular individual, but rather as part of the culture and thought of that age. Much like zeitgeist (the intellectual and cultural ‘spirit of the age’), this works on the subconscious level, whereby the individual follows a set of patterns and reasoning that has been instilled in him as he grows up as a part of society. In this sense, conformity has been slowly shaping the mindset of every individual from the moment they become a member of society.

Experiments conducted by Solomon Asch and Muzafer Sherif highlighted two forms of conformity, that of compliance and internalisation. Compliance refers to normative social influence, whereby the individual changes his public view to suit that of the majority even if he privately disagrees, while internalisation refers to informational social influence, whereby the individual changes his private view, believing that the majority is correct and he is wrong. It is this latter view of internalisation that is expressed in the art piece: true conformity, whereby the very thought process of the individual conforms to society.

An extreme example of conformity can be seen in Madeleine L’Engle’s A Wrinkle in Time, where, in Camazotz (a representation of Earth), the houses are ‘all exactly alike, small square boxes painted gray’, and even the children bounce their balls and skip their ropes to the same beat, in the same way, at the same time of day, failing which they get sent for reprogramming. They are all controlled by IT: the functional part of cloud of evil known as the Black Thing,
whose sole goal is the absolute conformity of society on Camazotz.

The message here is clear: the dark cloud of conformity blots out the sky, preventing individuals from flying freely. However, rather than being an outright criticism of conformity in society, the message of the art piece is that conformity is inevitable, and, as a part of society, we have already gone through this shaping and moulding; our thoughts and ideas have been conformed by society. It is only through the self-realisation of this process that we will be able to break free from the shackles of society, and truly express the individualism that makes each and everyone of us different, and not just clones of society.

How the piece works

By slotting the coloured card with the word ‘ME’ into the black voting box, the subject submits his individualism to the black void of conformity in society. By painting the canvas he is about to wear, the subject expresses his individuality and identity. As he makes his way through the gauntlet that represents society, he is subjected to various influences over which he has no control, and he is unavailable to prevent his canvas from being painted on. In this sense, the black (societal norms) overcomes the myriad of colours (individualistic views), one stroke at a time. This is a slow but steady process that occurs through the subject’s life as a part of society. The masked painters represent the intangible forces at work on the individual; the norms that are forced upon the individual are nameless and unknown in origin. Finally, as the subject reaches the end of the gauntlet, he is handed a little coloured card, with the word ‘society’ in black bleeding over it. This represents the pervasiveness of conformity in our lives, as it creeps over every last vestige of individualism. The poignancy of the piece stems from the physical contact as the subject is painted on, followed by the self-realisation at the end of the journey through the gauntlet.

Emao Level 36

Level 36 after playing for 13 days of WOW.
See the outfit, look like sailor, fisherman or farmer. Super ugly outfit but it has better stats to increase my stamina and intellectual.

Forget to post all my beloved pets, they are my protector especially voldwalker and imp.

Getting bored and piss of the game because there is so many high level 70 hordes (nasty enemies) keep killing me and camping outside their territories, impossible for me to do all my quests.
No matter how i cast my spells, they resist all my spells. Hordes are really powerful. By the way, please don't think that i can play very well in WOW, i am slow (not using keyboard shortcut) and super retarded.

I think i may be too obsessed with the game until i neglected so many friends. Hope everyone forgive and understand me.

Reasons for my obsession for WOW:
+ i haven't reach Level 70
+ i have nothing to do at home and lazy to go out
+ i want to kill those naughty hordes who kill me when i was doing my quests. (Note: I even wrote down their names to track them down)
+ can interact and make friends all over the world

Anyway, i want to share a piece of good news, i'm retiring from this WOW because my school is going to start off on 30 July 2007. My English Workshop will last for 5 days from 9 am to 5 pm, there will be exam after taking this workshop.
